The essence of narrow aisle racking is the “narrow aisle storage system.” It reduces the longitudinal aisle width of traditional pallet racking from 3–4 meters to 1.5–2 meters. By equipping specialized three-way stacking forklifts and other handling equipment, it enables efficient storage and retrieval of goods within narrow aisles.
Unlike traditional pallet racking systems, which feature wide aisles and dispersed storage, narrow aisle racking systems are centered on “precise positioning and compact layout.” They retain the advantage of pallet racking systems—the ability to store and retrieve entire pallets—while significantly increasing the number of storage locations through aisle optimization.
